Jacob A. Barton

Bio

Jacob Barton was born in 1985 in the suburbs of southeastern Virginia. Interested in music from an early age, he has studied classical piano and performed in many ensembles on a variety of wind instruments as well as voice. His curiosity for experimental music composition took him to Rice University (2003-2007) and to the School for Designing a Society (2005-2015). He composes, improvises, and produces music sporadically, and is a consummate arranger of tonal music. In 2005, he began to develop the Udderbot, a new slide wind instrument family.

He participates as a pollinator in projects like UnTwelve, the Xenharmonic Alliance, and the World Harmony Project. His enduring spirit of invention continues to inform his work, which now extends into writing words, coding computers, and teaching students.
